Hannie van Genderen is a clinical psychologist/psychotherapist as well as a supervisor and trainer in individual and group Schema Therapy. Since 2000 she has also been the owner of Van Genderen Opleidingen. From 1987 to 2017, as a clinician, she was involved with scientific research into the treatment of a broad range of psychological disorders at the University of Maastricht. During this research she worked in close collaboration with Professor Arnoud Arntz and other researchers. From its very early beginnings, in 1996, she has been involved with the introduction of (schema-oriented) psychotherapy for personality disorders in the Netherlands as a student of J. Young, A. Beck and C. Padesky. In the past five years the Group Schema Therapy of Farrell Shaw has been added to this.
Hannie has been teaching cognitive behavioural therapy for more than 30 years, with a particular focus on the field of Schema Therapy over the past 20 years. In addition to her own Schema Therapy courses and workshops, she has 30 years’ experience in developing various educational programmes (such as psychotherapy, mental health psychology and clinical psychology programmes) and co-ordinating elements thereof at RINO Zuid. For many years she has been giving workshops and training sessions in several European countries outside of the Netherlands (including places such as Aarhus, Berlin, Freiburg, Geneva, Mainz, Oxford, Warsaw, and Zurich), as well as in New York and, most recently, in Moscow.
